Concrete close to nature

In the idyllic village Brunneby, life revolves around the local sweet cider factory, Brunneby Musteri, and what the nature has to offer. For more than 60 years, Brunneby Musteri has refined locally produced fruits and berries into juice, cider, lemonade, jam, jelly and marmalade. “We want to bring thoughts of quality, nature and environment to mind” says Göran Kjellin at Brunneby Musteri. That is only one of the reasons for polishing the 300 square meter large farm shop in accordance with the HTC Superfloor™ concept.Brunneby Musteri

The farm shop is filled to the limit of its capacity with flavors and scents. Imaginative combinations surprises and excites, and curiosity leads the way through the extensive assortment. How about some marmalade, made of ecologically grown carrots and citrus fruits, or a delicious combination of raspberries and rhubarbs?
The farm shop is known for its genuine interior fittings, where every materials natural esthetics is respected. What would be more natural than a concrete floor, then?
- Everything we do is close to nature, and our farm shop is no exception, says Gunnar.

From small-scale business to popular tourist attraction

Brunneby Musteris history goes back to 1941, when Carl Gösta Kjellin got tired of seeing the gardens apples go to waste. Carl Gösta was, however, not the only one, and it wasn’t long before the sweet cider factory also took care of fruits and berries from the neighboring farms. During the years, the business grew, and by 1970, Carl Gösta leased out his farming, to be able to spend all his time at the sweet cider factory. Nine years later, the present owners, brother and sister Gunnar Kjellin and Eva Golbe, took over after their father. Today the factory employs about ten people, and every year about 50 000 customers visit the farm shop.
The business that started small-scale has become a popular attraction, but at times the road has been bendy. In August 2002 the factory was struck by lightning, and the premises were ravaged by a furious fire. Still, Gunnar and Eva they kept the business running, by producing and keeping stocks elsewhere. At the same time all efforts were made to rebuild factory, warehouse and farm shop.

The feeling of concrete

Gunnar Kjellin had heard about HTC Superfloor™, and was positive to the concept. So when the building proprietor, who was in charge of the rebuilding after the fire, suggested the method, Gunnar embraced the idea.
- I visited BT Products in Mjölby to have a look at their HTC Superfloor™ polished floors, and I could tell the concept would suit us, says Gunnar.
Every detail at Brunneby Musteri reminds of nature, environment and quality, and what could be better then, than a floor in pure concrete, both environmentally friendly and durable? In May 2004 the floor was polished, and one month later it was time to move in.

Exclusive concrete

Esthetical qualities are highly valued in a store, but it is also a place of work, and as such it has to function. Every day heavy hand trucks are drawn through the store, and thus the floor has to be plane. The flatness also makes the floor easier to clean.
- The customers often comment the floor. It is exclusive, and almost reminds of a limestone floor, says Gunnar.
The floor, bathing in sunshine, reflects pots of jam and bottles of cider and lemonade.
- The look and feel of a floor is important, but so is the function. With the HTC Superfloor™ concept, esthetics and function goes hand in hand.
