National Fortifications Administration – Boden, Sweden

Really heavy machines must have a really good floor. We are not talking about just any machines, but 60 000 kg tanks with 1500 horse power engines, so the demands are of course highly set.

Besides that certain equipment needs to be protected from dust and therefore the floor must not produce any dust. At the time for the latest renovation of the K 01107.410 building at I 19 in Boden, more known as the tank training hall, they therefore decided to remove the old epoxi floor and apply the HTC Superfloor™ concept. The first alternative was to treat the floor with a simple dust binder, but a presentation from representatives from Lundquists Måleri and HTC convinced the facility owner that it was en excellent idea to try the polished concrete instead. Hans Wemmenhag, at the National Fortifications Administration facility management unit in Boden, says that: ”First and foremost we wanted to protect the sensitive equipment form dust and get a floor that was easier to clean, which we obtained with you method. Besides that, the floor will be much easier to repair now should it be damaged. Compared to the former coating there is nothing that can be released from the floor and the surface is not rough anymore.”
