Case story, Trelleborg-Rubore
8000 m² HTC Superfloor™ has till today been grinded in Trelleborg-Rubores premises in Kalmar, Sweden. It all started in the middle of the 1990’s, when the first surface was grinded at Trelleborg-Rubore. Since then, several square meters have successively been grinded.
- HTC Superfloor™ is really aesthetically appealing. We get positive comments from visitors all the time, says Ulf G. Johansson, factory manager at Trelleborg-Rubore.
Trelleborg-Rubore got in touch with HTC Superfloor™ in the middle of the 1990’s, and decided to give the concept a try. An experimental area was grinded.
- We tested the surface during a couple of weeks. Among other things we tried the floors resistibility to heavy trucks and tire marks, says Ulf G. Johansson.
- We were very pleased with the result; HTC Superfloor™ was something for us!
High demands on cleanliness
Trelleborg-Rubore has chosen HTC Superfloor™ both in the factory and in the premises for research and development. Earlier, the floors at Trelleborg-Rubore were covered with epoxy, but the covering raised problems.
- It flaked off and got loose, and we had big problems with tire marks from the trucks. It just didn’t look good, says Ulf G. Johansson.
And a floor that doesn’t look fresh isn’t an alternative at a company like Trelleborg-Rubore, where high demands are put on cleanliness.
- We always clean with stone soap and use the auto scrubber, regardless of how fouled the floor is, says Ulf G. Johansson.
Compared to the floor they had before, HTC Superfloor™ is very easy to clean.
- When you clean it – it really gets clean!
The floor affects the working environment
An HTC Superfloor™ affects the working environment in a positive direction.
- The light from the ceiling lamps are reflected in the floor, and it actually makes the whole room look brighter, says Ulf G. Johansson.
He is convinced that the floor is important to the working environment.
- The floor really makes a difference. My opinion is that a durable, aesthetically appealing floor affects the working environment more than the state of both walls and ceiling.
Durable and hard-wearing
After years of wear and tear from trucks, the floor still retains its qualities.
- Just like other floors HTC Superfloor™ gets worn too, but compared to other types of floors and coverings there really aren’t any disadvantages, says Ulf. G. Johansson.
- All that happens is that an HTC Superfloor™ gets a somewhat matt finish.
Trelleborg-Rubore can guarantee that the floor is durable. In 1998 parts of the factory got completely destroyed by a fire, but the floors could be reused. After some minor reparations and a re-grinding the floor was like new!
Nothing but advantages
The Swedish company Kalmar Betongbearbetning got the commission to grind the floors at Trelleborg-Rubore. It was during the first half of the 1990’s that they first heard about HTC’s machines and HTC Superfloor™, and decided to give it a try.
- Actually it was like a long shot, says Andreas Gunnarsson at Kalmar Betongbearbetning, but we soon discovered that there was a big market for HTC Superfloor™.
Andreas Gunnarsson says that he only can see advantages with HTC Superfloor™.
- It is easy to clean and easy to maintain!
