General guidance for preparation
There are three different types of tools for preparation, standard type segments, the
T-Rex™ and scarifiers. The standard type tools are the natural choice for thin coatings, paint and adhesive residual but for thick coatings, screed and even carpet removal the T-Rex™ is unbeaten. The T-Rex™ leaves a rough surface easily smoothened if required, by a normal grinding stage, see concrete grinding. Scarifiers could in some cases be used as an alternative, but we always recommend to initially trying the diamond tools above.
See to that about 30-40 % of the grinding head area works on already cleaned concrete surface, to make the procedure more effective and keep the tools rinsed. Check the wear of the segments after a while, to see that no abnormal wear occurs. If so, try if another type of tool works better with this specific type of floor. Before preparation starts, check the floor for bolts or other metallic obstacles and remove them, as they can destroy your segments completely.
